LET BROTHERLY LOVE CONTINUE

Greetings Family and Friends,

I John 3:14-16

We know that we have passed from death unto life,

because we love the brethren.

He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer:

and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

 Hereby perceive we the love of God,

because he laid down his life for us:

and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

There is nothing as basic as human beings needing other human beings.  No man is an island, and we all need one another.  Love is the glue that holds families, friends, churches and community together.

I Corinthians 12 :18-21

But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body,

 as it hath pleased him.

And if they were all one member,

where were the body?

But now are they many members,

yet but one body.

And the eye cannot say unto the hand,

I have no need of thee:

nor again the head to the feet,

 I have no need of you.

When it’s all said and done, we need one another.

 I love the story about the premature twins born in 1995, born 12 weeks before their due date.  As was the standard hospital procedure the twins were placed in separate incubators.

Kyrie, the larger sister at two pounds, three ounces, began to gain weight and slept calmly.  Her sister Brielle wasn’t doing well.  She had breathing and heart-rate problems.  The oxygen level in her blood was low, and her weight gain was slow.

Suddenly, on November 12, Brielle went into critical condition.  She began gasping for breath, and her face and stick-thin arms and legs turned bluish-gray.  She got hiccups, a dangerous sign that her body was under stress.  Her parents watched, terrified that she might die.

The nurse did everything she could think of to stabilize Brielle.  Still the infant squirmed and fussed as her oxygen intake plummeted and her heart rate soared.

Then she remembered a technique she had heard from a colleague and put both babies into one incubator.  No sooner had the incubator door closed then Brielle snuggled up to Kyrie and calmed right down.  Within minutes Brielle’s blood-oxygen’s readings were the best they had been since she was born.  As she dozed, Kyrie wrapped her tiny arm around her smaller sister.  Her love brought her sister from the very throes of death.

The babies eventually were able to go home where they shared a crib and still snuggled.  Sweet, so sweet.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

 Two are better than one;

because they have a good reward for their labour.

 For if they fall,

the one will lift up his fellow:

but woe to him that is alone when he falleth;

for he hath not another to help him up.

Again, if two lie together,

then they have heat:

but how can one be warm alone?

And if one prevail against him,

two shall withstand him;

and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

While cruising I-10 headed to El Paso, I saw a billboard that just had two words and I thought how fitting it was to end this post:

CELEBRATE SOMEONE
