Family and Friends,

The last time we were missionaries in the Philippines, I guess you could say I had a

birthday miracle.  It just so happened that on my birthday the telephone was out of

order.  Funny thing, I don’t remember it happening before or after my birthday.  I

knew I would be getting some phone calls.  My sister would call, my daughter, my

friend and who knew who else would call?

We lived close to the telephone company and quickly went to inform them.  It so

happened that the girl I got that day, didn’t seem interested at all that it was my

birthday and I was expecting some calls and our phone didn’t work!  I left there

disheartened.

The Lord is so mindful of not only the big things in our life that we need Him to fix,

but even the little things.  That afternoon, the phone rang, and and I got several

birthday wishes.  “How sweet of you Lord!”  The phone was fixed and I was so

touched by not only His goodness to me on a mission field, but by the love I received

from so very many miles away.

Later on, probably because we went to use the phone, we discovered it was dead and

out of order again.  Humm, wonder what happened?

 

 

The next day the phone rang and I got another birthday call.  It was my birthday in

America.  In the Philippines my birthday was already past, since it is about 16 hours

later in the Philippines.

 

 

I was praising the Lord.  I said, “Thank you Lord for the 2 birthdays I had.”  So I had

my Philippine birthday, and my American birthday! Talk about feeling special!  As I

recall, the phone worked long enough to hear from loved ones on my birthday

before it went out again.  That’s why I call it my two birthday miracle.  What a sweet

and thoughtful Lord I serve!  If He takes care of the sparrows and even keeps track

of them, won’t He bless me His very own child?
