Another Perspective ~ 2 ~ GUEST POST ~ MY HEART TRUSTS IN HIM

Family and Friends,

I am happy to share the musings from another friends beautiful heart.  She is a pastor’s wife, who chooses to be

anonymous.  I have known her since the eighties when she came to Bible College.   You will enjoy and perhaps

often relate to what she shares as you

read her victorious and encouraging testimony.

The Lord is my Strength and my Shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him,” Psalm 28:7.

When I first began to follow my Lord on this glorious pathway to His Kingdom, the key scriptures I held close to my heart were these:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; & lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, & He shall direct thy paths,” Proverbs 3:5, 6.

Sometimes I went along walking & leaping & praising God! Those were the times I trusted Him with all my

heart. Other times, I plodded along, slogging my feet through the muck & mire of drudgery, made so by my

attitude! Those were the times I was leaning to my own understanding.

You can’t have faith with a faithless attitude. But when you look unto Jesus, & this is the key, keep your eyes &

heart steadily upon Him, the things of this earth truly do grow dim in the light of His glory & grace!

There are times when trusting Him is the easiest thing to do. The sun is shining & the birds are singing &

everything seems to be going our way.

*     *     *

But sometimes there are storms so dark we can’t see &, though we know He is there, we grope in the darkness trying to grasp, as it were, the hem of His garment.

*     *     *

There have been times I felt as though I were in the midst of the sea with the wind howling

around me & the waves crashing down, & I could not hear my Lord’s voice calling to me out of

the darkness – yet, I stood because I knew His hand upheld me! And I cried into the face of the

storm, I know my Redeemer lives! God, I will believe You! I trust You, Lord! And I know it was

His grace that gave me the very faith by which I was able to stand.

One writer said:

“Faith pierces through the mist of doubt that bars

The coming night … & finds the stars”!

*     *     *

Many years ago during a particularly trying time, the Lord gave me another verse:

“Blessed is she that believed:

 for there shall be a performance

of those things that were told her from the Lord,”

Luke 1:45.

*     *     *

Did those things the Lord ‘told to my heart’ come to pass that day? No. The next day? No. They haven’t all

completely come to pass even yet. But, I know ‘there shall be a performance of those things that were told’ me

 ‘from the Lord’.

*     *     *

It matters not that we cannot see:

*     *     *

“By faith … not fearing … he endured, as seeing Him Who is invisible,” Hebrews 11:27.

*     *     *

“Whom having not seen, ye love,” I Peter 1:8.

*     *     *

“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29);

*     *     *

“Jesus … More present to faith’s vision keen

Than any outward object seen.”

*     *     *

*     *     *

For, truly, isn’t faith simply a determination in the heart & mind to believe what we cannot see?There may be (&

probably will be) times when we have to haul ourselves up by the collar & say, ‘Oh no you don’t, you will not

 doubt, you will believe God!’ & forcibly cause ourselves to be calm, literally make our thoughts come into

“Casting down imaginations, & every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, & bringing

into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ,” II Corinthians 10:5.

“… the mind & will of God must, with those that look for that Kingdom, override every other way of thinking,

feeling & judging.”

And, it can be done! How? We have to keep our minds stayed upon Jesus! Though tempted to fear & doubt &

fretfulness, we must remember Who is behind the promises!

“Through faith also … herself received … because she judged Him faithful Who had promised,” Hebrews 11:11.

“The measure of the Promise is God’s faithfulness.”

We must “… keep our minds filled with the notion of God’s control behind everything … God is my Father, He

loves me, I shall never think of anything He will forget, why should I worry?”

It matters not that we cannot see because we know Him; not just know about but we know Him:

“I know Whom I have believed, & am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day,” II Timothy 1:12

*     *     *

“Those words shall be fulfilled to which she clings,

Because her God hath promised faithfully;

And, knowing Him, she ne’er can doubt His Word”

We have to take God at His Word!

“I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me,” Acts 27:25.

“God, willing … to shew … it was impossible for God to lie,” Hebrews 6:17, 18.

Then we wait for His Word to come to pass:

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, & not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry,” Habakkuk 2:3.

“The day shall declare it,” I Corinthians 3:13

*     *     *

Then, do not give in!

“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith … be strong,” I Corinthians 16:13.

“The Lord shall fight for you, & ye shall hold your peace,” Exodus 14:14.

Hold your peace – be still! Hush!

Hold your peace – hold on to your peace! Don’t let go of your peace & confidence in God!

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, &were persuaded of them, & embraced them,” Hebrews 11:13.

Then we need only to go about our everyday lives & duty for Him, with thanksgiving & praise for His promises which, in essence, have already come to pass.
