MY SOUL LONGETH FOR YOUR PRESENCE

Psalm 16:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life:

in Thy presence is fulness of joy;

at Thy right hand

 there are pleasures

for evermore.

Family and friends, whoever thinks that serving God is dull and boring, can see from this scripture that nothing could be further from the truth!  First of all, the Lord gives life.  If it were possible to search time and space, no treasure is as precious or valuable as life as He gives it.  His gift is eternal life.  His gift is life right now to be lived for His glory.  It is life right now and life for eternity.  It is a fulfilling life.  Paul said, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”  Phillipians 1:21. In other words, he was saying, In my estimation, Christ is real living and death will be a promotion!  Possessing Christ is life at it’s fullest!  Jesus said it like this:

John 10:10 (b)

 I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Life in HIs presence is the fullness of joy that knows no end!

                         The Lord gives joy to His people.  Peter expressed it like this:

Whom having not seen,

ye love;

in Whom,

though now ye see Him not,

yet believing,

ye rejoice

with joy unspeakable

and full of glory:

I Peter 1:8

… for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Nehemiah 8:10

Serving the Lord has so many benefits.  Folks are wanting security and a job with benefits.  Well, Jesus has a benefit to cover anything and everything you could possibly imagine:

              Salvation for the soul,

              Healing for body, soul and spirit,

              Joy unspeakable and full of glory,

              Peace that passes understanding,

              Provision for every conceivable need,

              Comfort for the weary and grief stricken heart,

              Guidance for uncertainty of direction,

              The list goes on………………..

Then culminating with the beautiful promise above:

…at Thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.

This is the icing on the cake!  What a future!  What a time to look forward to!  What assurance!  Hallelujah!   Fanny Crosby said it like this: “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!  O what a foretaste of glory divine!”  I believe Pop Gaylord liked to say, ” the Lord gives us a little bit of  heaven to go to heaven in.”  Sweet thought. Pleasure evokes thoughts of  well being, enjoyment and delight. Pleasures forevermore!  Think of it! What a  beautiful promise to ponder.  The Christian life is the way to go, even with all the trials and tests along the way, because at the end it will have been worth it all!
