Archive for the ‘John’ Tag

Greetings Friends and Family as we celebrate the Easter season.  Jesus died and rose again as the prophets

foretold centuries ago.  Without these blessed events there would be no Christianity.

The Lamb of God Promised

Genesis 22:8

God will provide Himself a Lamb.

John 1:29

John seeth Jesus coming unto him,

and saith,

Behold the Lamb of God,

which taketh away the sin of world.

The lamb was the means of Israel’s deliverance from the slavery of Egypt through

the shedding of its blood and its application to their homes.  John was saying that

Jesus is that Lamb Whose blood is the means for our deliverance from the spiritual

slavery of sin.

Isaiah 53:7

He was oppressed,

He was afflicted,

He opened not His mouth:

He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,

and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,

so He openeth not His mouth.

The fact that John the Baptist called Him the Lamb of God is significant; He was neither the people’s

Lamb, nor the Lamb of the Jews, nor the Lamb of any human owner, but the Lamb of God.  When the Lamb

was sacrificed, it was not that He was just a victim of those who were stronger than Himself – no, it was

God giving Himself willingly – Jesus was a willing sacrifice!

I Peter 1:18-19

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed

with corruptible things,

as silver and gold,

 from your vain conversation

received by tradition from your fathers;

But with the precious blood of Christ,

as of a Lamb

without blemish and without spot.

Jesus paid it all,

All to Him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain,

He washed it white as snow.

Mankind was in a terrible dilemma. We needed someone to save us from our sinful nature.  Good works

could never accomplish it,  but a God of Love provided the Way!  Someone might ask, “Why did Jesus have to

die?  If God is Almighty, why didn’t He just make a world where everyone would serve Him?”  The reason is

He would not force us to love Him.  He did not put a computer chip inside us that was programmed to

love Him.  We have a free will.  If we love someone, we want them to love us back.  We may try to win their

love by kindness, but ultimately we can’t force anyone to love us.  But God, in His loving wisdom, won the love

of His creatures through Jesus’ willing and awesome sacrifice!

It really all comes down to this:

“we love Him because He first loved us.”

Revelation 13:8

Jesus is:

The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world!

Thank you for stopping by.
