Family and Friends,

Psalm 127:2

He giveth His beloved sleep.

Psalm 3

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me!

Many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul,

“There is no help for him in God.”

 But Thou, O Lord, art a Shield for me;

my Glory, and the Lifter up of mine head.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for Thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone;

thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

 Salvation belongeth unto the Lord:

Thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Proverbs 3:21-26

 Keep sound wisdom and discretion:

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Psalm 4:8

I will both lay me down in peace,

and sleep:

for Thou,

only makest me dwell in safety.

So what about that good night’s sleep?

How can David say he not only lies down

but sleeps when all this calamity is going on?

David certainly knew he was innocent of the accusations

he is being attacked for in Psalm 3.

The Lord had proven Himself over and over again in his life,

…Grace hath brought me safe thus far,

and grace will lead me home,

and from the hymn:

Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er…

Of all the thoughts of God that are

Borne inward into souls afar,

Along the Psalmist’s music deep,

Now tell me if that any is,

For gift or grace, surpassing this-

“He giveth His beloved sleep?”
