Friends and Family,

Mary’s heart must have been very full over the recent birth of her Son and all the other

events taking place in her life. Prophecies were being fulfilled not only in her own life,

but in the lives of those around her – Joseph, Zachariah, Elizabeth, the Magi and the

shepherds – and there she was, right in the middle of it all! I wonder if she looked back

to the day when the Angel Gabriel appeared to bring to her the tidings that she had been

chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah. Following her initial fear and reasoning she

made that profound statement of surrender, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it

unto me according to thy word.” She was not only fully surrendered to the will of God,

but she was ready also! Was not her’s the attitude every true child of God should have at

all times?  Approximately 33 years later, her Son would utter a similar prayer “Father

not my will but Thy will be done.”  Let’s unify the two and pray today, ” Be it unto me

according to Thy word, not  my will, but Thy will be done.”

Here is the Spirit’s prophecy through Mary, every phrase being rooted deeply in the

Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament from 1st Samuel, from the Psalms, from

Isaiah and Habakkuk and other Old Testament Books as well:

Luke 1:46-55

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden:

for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

For He that is Mighty hath done to me great things; and Holy is His name.

And His mercy is on them that fear Him from generation to generation.

He hath shewed strength with His Arm;

He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He hath sent empty away.

He hath holpen His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;

As He spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to His seed for ever.
